Nail Art: Fairy Dusted Ferns

Happy Saturday to you all! I hope you are having a relaxing, enjoyable weekend so far. Today I have a simple stamping mani to share. I started with a base of Deborah Lippmann Call me Irresponsible (swatches coming soon) and stamped a fern design from my Konad M83 plate over that with Sinful Colors Enchanted. I couldn't just leave it alone, so I decided to add some China Glaze Fairy Dust to that. It turns out Fairy Dust isn't always the best solution, I felt like it drowned out the stamping in this case, so I added another stamp over the Fairy Dust.

The Fairy Dust took over! I feel like it created a really subtle look that washed out the actual design and made it more of a faint print. I almost didn't want to post this because it didn't turn out the way I wanted, but I think it was still a successful mani. Next time, I think I will try this with a more contrasting color! I just like purple too much. Thanks for reading!

  1. I love it with Fairy Dust on it, but I know what you mean about being disappointed with a design. :/ (That's usually when everyone else loves it though!)

  2. This is so pretty! I kinda of like the subtle look, it makes it look faded, vintage somehow. :)

  3. I kind of like the subtle stamping look. Its interesting, and beautiful at the same time. I tried adding fairy dust over a botched gradient once and it seems to highlight all the rough edges of my "blending" so I know what you mean with Fairy Dust not being the answer to everything.

  4. I really like this. I have done this kind of thing before when it looks great in my head and then when it I do it, it's not what I thought. I think you made it look great, though. The Fairy Dust ties it all together.

  6. Thank you! I like the faded vintage look, so I'll just pretend that is what I was going for :)

  7. Oh my gosh, I do this all the time. You should see the manis I don't post! I think I have a graveyard of mani files that just didn't make the cut.

  8. Usually it is a good blending/cover up, but it definitely went astray this time.

  9. When I first got the Fairy Dust I tried one coat and loved it, so I was like two coats will be amazing! Yeah, that was a nail fail. This one was only one coat, but it reminded me of that time! :D

  10. These are really pretty! I like the little bit of sparkle that the Fairy Dust gave the design and the subtleness of the stamping is lovely. Sometimes you just need a soft design!

  11. I kind of like the subtlety of this. I'm one of those weirdos who thinks subtle stamping is actually really pretty.
