Swatch and Review of Morgan Taylor: Sapphires, Rubies, and Emeralds Oh My

Today I have to share my first and only Morgan Taylor polish! I bought this a while back and just haven't thought to use it. I'm not sure where these are normally sold, but I found this one at a salon. Sapphires, Rubies, and Emeralds Oh My is a glitter bomb. It is loaded, and I mean loaded with glitter. The best part is that it has a good base color so you don't need many layers. I think the base is a blue/purple, maybe more blue than purple. I only needed two coats for the photos below.

I thought the best thing about this polish is that it stunned me with only needing two coats and the formula was nice. Other than that, I really want to love this, but it is so chunky, I feel like my finger is dipped in glitter. Don't get me wrong, I love glitter bombs, but I like a mixtures of sizes and shapes, and this only has small uniform glitter. It just feels a bit too much on my nails. Also, while applying, the glitter actually became a hindrance in getting the polish on the nail. I think the colors are great though. There isn't much green, but in certain light you can find it. I really want to try some other Morgan Taylor polishes, because I have been impressed with a lot of colors I've seen. This one was just a miss for me. It was a nice one, but just not to my liking. What do you think about it? What kind of glitter bombs do you prefer? Thanks for reading and happy Friday!

  1. Impressive how opaque it is with two coats only! Too bad it didn't really make it to your heart though :(

  2. Oh I wanted to love this one too. It looks so fun in the bottle, but I agree on the nail it's only meh.

  3. This one looks so gorgeous but I agree with you, too many micro glitters can be a bit much, it definitely needs some bigger ones in there to break it up but it looks lovely on you nontheless! Maybe it could work as a glitter gradient or an accent nail? Sometimes when it is too much as a full mani, it's perfect as an accent. I love chunky glitter bombs with assorted glitters!!

  4. This was only 2 coats?! That's awesome! I'm not usually a fan of micro glitters and prefer a mix of different sized glitters like you mentioned but I would wear this! I think some floral nail art would be nice over top.

  6. That is lovely! And so very opaque! I'm a bit weird (maybe? maybe not?) but I prefer glitters that aren't so opaque because I like to layer them over a creme or shimmer base so that they don't end up being so chunky on my nail. I'm very quirky about glitters though, I know so many people want things that get opaque without a base color. OH and FYI, they do sell Morgan Taylor at CosmoProf (I get my hairdresser to sneak me in). ;)

  7. I do like opaque glitters, but I also like ones with clear bases like you. It just depends on what look I'm going for. I've never been to CosmoProf, it sounds exciting!

  11. I'm sure if I create something new and not just use it as is, it will be more interesting!

  12. I always gaze lovingly at the Morgan Taylors when I go into the UK version of Sally, but I haven't taken the plunge yet. Sorry this one isn't to your liking, but I think it's absolutely lovely.
