The Polished Bookworms: Nail Art Inspired by Maze Runner by James Dashner

Last month in The Polished Bookworms, we read Big Little Lies which I loved. Maze Runner was our book this month. The theme was a young adult book and at times, I had a difficult time even taking this book seriously. In the end I think it is an entertaining read, but I think I will skip the rest of the series. I thought it was an interesting concept, but it read more like a downgraded Hunger Games. For my nail design based on the book, I did a gradient of China Glaze Black Diamond and Foie Gras and stamped over it with Agro.

OPI Glitters from the Gwen Stefani Holiday 2014 Collection

This post has been a  LONG time coming! I have been wanting to share the glitter since I posted First Class Desires and Christmas Gone Plaid. I had my eyes on Comet in the Sky, but couldn't find these glitters anywhere. I literally went to a ton of stores several times. I finally caved and bought Comet in the Sky online and the next day was told that they were all at TJ Maxx on sale! I knew I was going to love Comet in the Sky, so I figured it couldn't hurt to have two bottles. So, today along with Comet in the Sky, I have Snow Globetrotter and So Elegant. All of these are glitter toppers in a clear base.

Northern Star Polish Marsala!

It is no secret that Northern Star Polish is one of my favorite indie brands. Today I have Marsala! Marsala is the Pantone Color of the Year and a beautiful maroon with a brown undertone. In some light it looks like it has a blue shimmer.

Delush Scream Supreme Collection Inspired by American Horror Story (My Picks)

Press Sample

Delush Polish released an American Horror Story inspired collection called Scream Supreme! I went crazy over this collection, and knew I had to have it! I love the show and when polish and my favorite books to TV shows come together it is perfection. I think many of you know of my love of AHS, it is such a dark and twisty show! I picked up Bitchcraft, Misty Day, A Night in the Asylum, and Murder House. All of these are jelly polishes packed with glitter.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy late Valentine's Day! I decided to post my nail design for Oregon's Birthday rather than Valentine's Day yesterday. For Valentine's Day, I wanted to try another water marble. I always feel like I have a difficult time, but this time, it worked pretty well!

Happy Birthday, Oregon!

Happy Valentine's Day to you all! For those of you who do not know, it is also Oregon's birthday! Today marks 156 years of Oregon's statehood. I love Oregon and I wanted to do my nails for her. Oregon's colors are navy blue and gold, and I took inspiration from our state motto "She Flies With Her Own Wings".

Northern Star Polish One With The Shadows

Northern Star Polish came out with a Vampire Collection last year, and I couldn't wait to grab at least one of them! I decided to pick up One With The Shadows, which is a great blue toned grey. I think it is a gorgeous color, and I always love the quality of Northern Star Polish.

Press Release

Can you believe spring collections are already available? Here is a press release from KBShimmer unveiling their Spring 2015 collection. It is available now!

KBShimmer unveils Spring 2015 collection Say goodbye to winter’s dark hues, embrace sunny skies and open toe shoes with KBShimmer’s Spring 2015 collection! KBShimmer announces its Spring 2015 collection! The line of 12 new seasonal & holiday inspired polishes and nail vinyl will launch February 6, 2015 and retail individually for $8.75 (polish; $7.50 for “Eyes White Open”) and $5 (vinyl). “There’s nothing better than the first signs of Spring and all the joy that it brings! Our Spring 2015 collection is inspired by sun-kissed days and lush gardens blooming, the Easter season, and Pantone’s 2015 Spring color, Aquamarine,” says KBShimmer owner Christy Rose. “What better way to celebrate that Spring has sprung then with creamy pastels, metallic glitters, and a touch of sparkle and shine?”

Eyes White Open: A white cream with two coat coverage; a staple color for any girl’s nail polish collection.
Meow Or Never: Based on the Pantone spring color Glacier Gray, this polish is a very pale gray, almost white in color with pops of purple, gray, periwinkle and sky blue.
Sweet Egg-scape: A pale, bubblegum pink polish. Glitters like, pastel aqua star glitters, coral triangles, lavender dots, red squares and sliver holo hexes swim among the pink base like a decorated Easter egg.
Blush Money: Based on the 2015 Pantone Color, Strawberry Ice, this peachy-rose colored polish shows off gold shimmer indoors and a linear holographic rainbow shines while outside.

To Peach His Own: This pale peach polish shines with holographic glitters in lime green, gold, violet and magenta.
Ins and Sprouts: Like a new bud popping through the soil, this pale green citron colored polish is alive with linear holographic shine.
Cool Hand Cuke: This pale minty green polish is loaded with pastel glitters in circles, triangles, stars and hexes. A touch of holographic sparkle completes this pastel polish.
Funky Cold Patina: Like a long forgotten ancient copper statue turned blue green in color, this polish features a cool turquoise green base, with pops of metallic copper, blue and purple.

Wind Swarm: Based on the Spring 2015 Pantone color, Aquamarine, Wind Swarm features a pale sky blue base, a mix of purple, gold, white and pink glitters, while a hint of micro glitter offers a bit of sparkle to enjoy in the sun.
Blue-d Lines: Pale blue in color, this cool toned polish shines with linear holographic sparkle.
Thistle Be The Day: A pale pinkish purple that shines in the sun with a linear holographic rainbow.
I’m So Sweet Pea: The palest of purples bases set off an explosion of glitters in pink, mint, purple and turquoise.

Work Wear Wednesday: Wisps

Happy Work Wear Wednesday! This week's design is pretty much the same as Sunday's design, but with a few key changes. I of course made the colors more work appropriate, but I also added a matte top coat. Are you surprised? I have almost run out of matte top coat, that is how much I use that stuff! I really enjoyed Sunday's design and wanted to try it again with a different style.

What I Wore to Las Vegas!

My husband and I recently took a short trip to Las Vegas! I knew I wanted to do something blingy and a bit showy for my nails, and this is what I came up with. I went with a black and gold theme to make it classy, but added a holo glitter to bling it up a notch!

The Polished Bookworms: Nail Art Inspired by Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty

In addition to my love of nail polish, I love reading. Many of you know this about me. I recently joined a book club which combines the two called The Polished Bookworms! The book for January was Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty. The plot took many unexpected turns, and was definitely a drama. One of the things I really appreciated about the book was that she covered some darker issues that some people may not want to think about at all. I appreciated that most. The group will be doing nail art at the end of each month that is inspired by the book we have read. Here are mine:
