I am back at it today with some more nail art for the #31DC2014 challenge! I had to have self imposed "work appropriate" nails today, so I started off the day with a base of China Glaze Foie Gras from the Hunger Games Collection. That has to be one of my favorite collections of all time. No joke, go check it out. Foie Gras is a really nice brown/taupe creme. In some lights it is completely brown, in others it looks grey or taupe. I love colors that change like that. The challenge prompt for today is fashion inspired, and I could totally do some beautiful crazy things for that, but I am feeling the simple plaid today. It may be because it is officially fall or because it is raining here, but I love a good plaid.

Nail Art: Colorblocked Nails
We recently had a big snow storm and I discovered that snow makes for great lighting! I took all of my pictures outside because I was so excited. We don't get a lot of snow here in Oregon. I started out with a swatch of China Glaze Argo, and it evolved into a little nail art. Argo is gorgeous! Before I owned this, I didn't think much of it, but it has such a glowy quality, I can't help but love it. It applied beautifully and was opaque in two coats. Argo comes from the Hunger Games collection from 2012, which is flat out my favorite collection from China Glaze-by far.

Birthday Nails!
Today is my birthday! I had intended on doing
something more complicated on my nails for my birthday, but I kind of liked
this simple design. I started with a base of OPI Live and Let Die from the
Skyfall Collection (LOVE!) and topped it with China Glaze Luxe and Lush, which
was a gift from my sister in law for my birthday. Funny story, I had Live and
Let Die on my nails for brunch in the morning where my SIL gave me the entire
Hunger Games collection from China Glaze. We had spontaneously decided to go
wine tasting afterwards and I was so anxious to get this beautiful flakie on my
nails, I added it in the car on the way over.

Nail Art: Catching Fire Nails
I feel terrible, I have been neglecting my nail community here. It has been five days since I last posted, can you believe it? Work has been crazy lately, which makes it difficult to publish blog posts. I promise, today's post will be worth the wait. For #nailartnov the theme for Day 22 was "Catching Fire" for the premier of the movie Hunger Games: Catching Fire. I read all the books after I saw the first movie, so, needless to say I was really excited for this challenge. Some of you know, last year China Glaze came out with a Hunger Games collection, two of the polishes I used here to create my Catching Fire look. I used Smoke and Ashes as the base color and the top gradient color. I used Riveting as the orange gradient color. I sponged on the two colors over a layer of Smoke and Ashes and it worked really well. I also finally got my order of nail studs, so I was able to use those for this design!
What do you think? I wore these for the movie, which felt really special. I loved the design, I did notice that the polish chipped really quickly, which was not cool. Maybe I just had too many layers. For those of you who have the China Glaze Hunger Games nail polish and the new Cover Girl Hunger Games nail polish, which collection do you prefer? Do you know of a difference in quality? I love the HG collection from China Glaze. I loved what they did with their collection, I was a little ticked that they weren't doing the polish this go around and haven't picked up any Cover Girl because I was protesting. Let me know if you like it though, I am always a fan of good polish finds! Hope you like this design, I will try not to neglect the blog so much anymore! I am planning a tutorial soon, so stay tuned!
