Shades of Grey Nail Art

Press Sample

Today I have a pretty simple skittle mani. A skittle mani is one that doesn't have every finger as the same design. I have no idea where the term came from, but I'm going with it. I used all grey tones for this one. I used Rimmel Steel Grey (discontinued), L'Oreal Caution Please from the 50 Shades of Grey collection, and Pure Ice Silver Star which is always a great stamper. I believe the L'Oreal collection came out along with the movie 50 Shades of Grey and not the books.

Work Wear Wednesday: Monochrome Chevrons

It is Work Wear Wednesday again! I have been slacking in posting lately, and for that I am sorry. I really wanted to make sure I got this up on Wednesday even though it is late. I decided to go with a simple two tone look. I created a chevron design just using Nail Vinyls and L'Oreal polishes.

Nail Art: Dice Inspired Tape Mani

Today's design is inspired by a picture, which was a prompt for a nail challenge given to me by a fellow NW polish addict! We have a group on Facebook and we decided to do a round robin type challenge. I have to admit, I was a little stumped when I first got my prompt for this nail challenge. The longer I thought about it, the more excited I became! Below is my prompt.

I was inspired by the dice with many edges and the speckled colors on the dice. I started my design based on that. It didn't turn out exactly as I imagined, but I really love it! I used a base of L'Oreal Tea and Crumpets, then I laid down my striping tape and sponged on Color Club Mamba, Almost Famous and Evolution. The three combined to make purples and greens, which I think turned out really interesting!

Nail Art: Plaid Nails

I cannot believe it is already December! Thanksgiving went by so fast, I feel like it was such a blur. We had several different Thanksgiving dinners to attend, so maybe that makes it feel like it goes by so fast. We had a great time with family and some great food. I can't get enough turkey and pie! As we transition into December, I am starting to immediately think of Christmas and everything that comes with it. One thing that really reminds me of the Christmas season is plaid prints. I have been wanting to try a plaid print for a while now, and I decided to do one with blue tones.

I started with a base color of OPI On Her Majesty's Secret Service. I love that color so much! It is from the Skyfall collection. On top of that I freehand painted lines of China Glaze Sea Spray. Then it got a little tricky, I painted little diamonds in L'Oreal Greycian Goddess with a small nail art brush. Lastly, I painted overlay lines of Color Club Luminescent. I'm not sure if you would call this argyle or plaid, but both are great for winter. I can't imagine the possibilities here. I am really excited to try this with really Chirstmas-y colors! I think next time I would probably do fewer lines, as I think this is a little too busy for everyday, but I like it nevertheless. Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Thanks for reading!

Nail Art: Polka Dot Chevron Tips

A few friends and I got together last night for one of our almost monthly nail polish parties! We all try to create something new and exciting. I feel like every time, I try something overly ambitious and I end up doing something easy! This time was no different. I created a simple chevron tip manicure with some polka dots to tie it together. I created the chevron tips freehand and used a dotting tool for the dots.

The base color is two coats of L'Oreal Club Prive (dots are the same color) and the tips are painted with Zoya Giovanna from the new fall collection. I love Zoya, this one deserves its own post! I find myself loving the L'Oreal colors but I have never loved the formula. Something about it aggravates me. Balding, tackiness, and patchy are three words I would use to describe every L'Oreal polish I have. The colors just lure me in! Anyway, this was the product of a fun night with some girl friends! Can't beat good food, wine and nail polish!
