Chanel Taboo

Today I have a special polish to share with you! I have been wanting this polish for ages and I finally made the decision to purchase it! It was a big deal because it felt so exorbitant for a nail polish. It is Chanel Taboo. I have seen swatches and have even tried it out a few times at the counter, and I couldn't get it out of my mind. Unfortunately is it pricey at $27 per bottle. I just couldn't justify the price in my mind, but I just bit the bullet and decided I had to have it.

Taboo looks a little different in the bottle than it does on the nail. The bottle has more of a redish hue and the shimmer is more prominent. On the nail you definitely see the blue tones that the polish takes. The base actually looks more blue than red.

The ease of application was amazing here. I love how nicely this applies. It is absolutely gorgeous. It is almost a one coater if you are careful, but I used two coats here. It is very opaque but is so easy to control. The biggest problem with this is that it chipped in two days. The lady at the counter raved about how amazing this is and how it will last for 14 days, not might last, WILL last. I know that body chemistry has a lot to do with it, but two days for a $27 polish? I have to say I am disappointed with the performance but I will try different base/top coat combinations to see if I can get anything else to work better. This time I used Duri Rejuvacote and Seche Vite but Duri isn't my usual base coat.

Have you tried Chanel before? What was your experience? I would love to know if you had the same or if you have recommendations on what works better. Thanks for reading!

  1. Ooh, pretty! It's pricey, and when I've looked into it before I came across a dupe suggestion, one of Kiko's poishes so I bought that on sale for 1.99 it would be interesting to compare the two IRL ;)

    1. Oh we should compare it! I have never gotten to try any Kiko's.

  2. My experience with Chanel nail polish is the same---dreamy color, but chips quickly. I have found it to be best suited for pedicures; the rich, unique colors never fail to garner their share of ooooos and aaaaahs!
