Swatch and Review of Essie: Playa Del Platinum

I have an older polish up for review today. It is Essie: Playa Del Platinum. I got it on clearance at Ulta quite a while ago, and am only just now getting around to trying it out. It is one of those neutral colors that I am not sure will work with my skin color, but for some reason buy anyway. I would describe it as a milky taupe with a hint of color I can't quite put my finger on. In some lights that hint of color looks like it is green leaning, but my husband thinks it is blue leaning. Either way, I can't figure it out! Take a look:

I love Essie's grey shades, but I can't decide if I like this or not. I only needed two coats, the first was streaky and the second smoothed it all out beautifully. The color just doesn't strike me as exciting or complimentary. Neutrals are rarely exciting, but every time I look at my nails I just think "meh". I love Chinchilly and Merino Cool, this would be on the lighter side of both, but I just don't see myself grabbing for this color over those two. I'm wondering what skin tone it compliments the most. Do you own this color and like it a lot? Let me know what you think! Thanks for reading!

  1. This looks similar to the new CG Don't Honk Your Thorn. The gray-ish, taupe, neutral color. It can look super pretty, though!

  2. I haven't seen that one, I'll have to look up some swatches. I think this color might be good for a base for some nail art :)
