What I Wore for Christmas!

Press Sample

Hello! I hope you all are having a lovely holiday season! I celebrate Christmas and was excited to have a fun nail design for the occasion. I always have so much to do around Christmas though, so I opted for a simple stamp instead of something more complex. Born Pretty Store sent me a Christmas stamper, and some stamping plates to try out that I am sharing with you today! I used Anonymous Lacquer Wrath as my base color. It is pretty funny and ironic to me I am using a polish named wrath for a Christmas design.

Today I have some nail adhesives to share with you. Nail Bliss sent me two packages of themed nail stickers that are a little different from common nail stickers, these have little accent pieces like words and jewels to help bling out your nails. I received a tropical looking package and a geometric metallic package.

Shades of Grey Nail Art

Press Sample

Today I have a pretty simple skittle mani. A skittle mani is one that doesn't have every finger as the same design. I have no idea where the term came from, but I'm going with it. I used all grey tones for this one. I used Rimmel Steel Grey (discontinued), L'Oreal Caution Please from the 50 Shades of Grey collection, and Pure Ice Silver Star which is always a great stamper. I believe the L'Oreal collection came out along with the movie 50 Shades of Grey and not the books.

Julie G Gradient

I decided I needed a distinctly summery look because it has actually been really hot here in the Pacific Northwest. It was actually 90 degrees today! I went with a design that looks like a tequila sunrise and added some white glitter. I used Julie G Canary Islands, Old San Juan, and Miami Beach. The glitter I used is Sephora Formula X Wham!.

Swirly Nail Art

I have a swirly design to share with you today. It looks like a water marble, but it involves no water! I saw this technique posted by MelyneNailArt on Instagram and I loved it! I immediately wanted to try it out. I grabbed some of my favorite colors from Color Club and went at it! Melyne uses an interesting and messy technique that just drops wet polish on top of wet polish drops. What you end up with is somewhat difficult to control, but I love the effect.

Black and Red Collaboration When Colours Collide

I just a have a quick post to share with you today. I was able to participate in a group collaboration with the theme of black and red.  I've been wanting to do a black and red gradient for a while, so I thought this was the perfect opportunity.

Side French Nail Art

Press Sample

I have a clean and simple nail art design for you today. I think we all are aware of the classic french manicure, but I wanted to switch it up a bit. It is so simple, but adds a bit of interest to a mani. I started out with a nude color and added some holographic blue. The polishes I used in this design are Rimmel London Caramel Cupcake, which is one of my favorite nudes. It dries really quick and almost creates the look of mannequin nails with my skin tone. After I painted two coats of Caramel Cupcake, I placed a french tip nail vinyl on the side of my nail and added Cirque Colors Royal Hawaiian from last year's Juicy Collection. I love that collection so much, it is so vibrant! I knew Royal Hawaiian would look great paired with a nude.

Euro Gradient

Happy New Year! Welcome to 2016! It seems like the years go by so quickly now, but I guess time flies when you're having fun. My first nail art design of the year is created using all OPI Euro Centrale Collection polishes. It was one of my favorite collections from them and I think they all look great together. I decided to go with a gradient and topped it with glitter. Gradients are so fun and easy and have such a high impact.

Essie French Tips

For some reason, recently I had a hankering for a matte/metallic combo. I wasn't sure if I ever shared Essie Wrap Me Up which was part of the Cashmere Mattes collection, so I decided to use that and paired it with Essie Penny Talk. Penny Talk is a really shiny metallic polish. I wanted to do a think french manicure, so I did it free hand and left the finish as is and didn't use a top coat.

HPB is a group of Hobby Polish Bloggers on Facebook. We decided to team up and do themed manis this month. I have a fun Halloween looks to share. Since it is Halloween, I have a scary movie to go watch, so this will be a quick post. I wanted to share this design with you before the night was over though!

Fall Chevron Nail Art

I admittedly haven't done much nail art lately, at least not as much as I am used to doing. I decided to change that! I have a fun and easy nail art look today using all fall colors! I have some recent finds along with some old favorites incorporated into this design.

Born Pretty Store Faux Marble Studs

Press Sample

Hello! I hope you've had a good Monday. Mondays are rough, I don't know what it is about getting back to work after a weekend, but it can be challenging. To help counter a case of the Mondays, I have some nail studs from the Born Pretty Store to share with you today.

These nail studs are sort of an imitation of marble print but are made of plastic and contain four different colors and three different shapes in each color.

Cirque Colors Vice Collection Nail Art

Press Sample

I really love fall, but I wanted to get at least one more crazy neon look out for the summer, so here it is! I don't think I've even done that much neon this summer. Some of you may have noticed I haven't been really active at all this summer. Thanks for bearing with me, I have just had a really busy work schedule for so long, once things lightened up a bit, I kind of checked out. I do want to be more engaged in the blog, but sometimes I float in and out of it.

Anyway, I used the entire Cirque Colors Vice Collection which I reviewed earlier this summer, and I'll tell you, I wore the heck out of these colors! I love them all so much. Neon is definitely my favorite for summer. For this look, I used one of my favorite techniques which includes smearing plastic wrap over blobs of color. It sounds so child-like, but I seriously love the technique. It creates such a misty looking mix of colors.

Nail Art Dotticure Blues

Press Sample

I received Sinful Colors Ocean Side from Influenster Voxbox along with some other exciting goodies. I decided to do a little nail art with this one. Ocean Side is a middle tone blue creme and I thought it would go really well with Orly Color Blast Crazy Old Maurice from the Beauty and the Beast collection. I love Beauty and the Beast!

I've been a little rusty on nail art because I just haven't had time, so I thought this could be a good ease back into it. I just did an asymmetrical dot pattern with alternating colors using Crazy Old Maurice as my accent color.

Work Wear Wednesday: Island Girl Style

It is late on a Wednesday, but today I have another installment of Work Wear Wednesday! I apologize for being absent for so long. I think it is fatigue from working long hours for months, but I hope to be more consistent in the future! This week I decided to switch things up a bit and add an almost neon color. I used an unnamed Island Girl, OPI L.A.M.B., Wet n Wild Matte Top Coat, and Maybelline Bold Gold for stamping and Born Pretty Store Plate BP-19.

Early Summer Leaf Gradient

Hello all! Memorial Day is the unofficial start of summer, so I wanted to create a nail design that reflected the early summer months! I started with three China Glaze colors: Five Rules, Flip Flop Fantasy, and Grass is Lime Greener. I also used plate BP19 from the Born Pretty Store and Pure Ice Superstar. I decided to create a gradient with the China Glaze polishes and stamped over that with a leaf design in white. This was one of those looks that kind of evolved as I created it.

Nail Art Inspired by a Tumbler

Affiliate Links

I have a fun spring look for you today! I recently picked up a new tumbler for water from Target for a great deal. I haven't seen it there since, but I found some others online that I also love here, here and here. I love it, it instantly reminded me of nail art, so of course I had to create a design for this.

Nail Art Inspired by Sushi Dinner

So, this design wasn't really inspired by the sushi dinner itself, but by the mugs we got for our tea. I thought the design was really cute, and as we were eating, I realized I have a stamp for that. The scale is a little off, but I think it turned out nice.

Work Wear Wednesday: Pastel Polka Dots

Affiliate Links

I have another installment of Work Wear Wednesday up today! I wanted to do something really simple because I just haven't had any energy to do anything intricate lately, and who doesn't love a simple dotticure? After I did one a while back, I had another WWW post with a tan and black dotticure and since then, I noticed a lot of questions about how I actually do it. I thought it was a pretty simple process and I have a little tutorial at the bottom of the post.

Nail Art Spring Gradient

I hope you all have had a great week! Sorry for my extended hiatus, I came down with something pretty serious last week and it kept me down for quite a while. I even left my nails naked! I am still getting over it, but the fever is gone at least. I really hate being sick.

The nails I have to share with you have been sitting in my to blog file since before Easter! I created a springy gradient with three colors from a mini set of Nails Inc polishes. I used Sloane Street, Princess Gate, and Bruton Lane.
